Transport Preservation
Awards
Over the years, the Club has become well known in the area through its
promotion of two major events, the Toy, Transport & Collectors
Fair held at Polegate, and since 1976 the Festival
of Transport at Hellingly.
Both events have been successful in raising money for local charities and
for transport preservation projects such as the Chalk Pits Museum and the
Kent & East Sussex Railway. Some members have voiced the opinion that
the Club should be doing more to encourage local preservation projects
and so it was decided to promote a new prestigious award scheme with this
aim in mind.
The awards under this scheme are presented at the Hellingly Festival
of Transport held in August each year. They are designed for individuals,
groups and societies who have completed restorations of all sorts of
transport in the twelve months ending 28th February of each year. The
awards are divided into five categories with a prize of £100
for each category. An overall winner is selected by the membership of the EHVC
and receives a further £400. The judges are also
empowered to make Highly Commended awards in the categories.
Club members have also a desire to promote restoration projects by young
budding engineers, and special emphasis will be given by the judging
panel to entrants in this category.
The panel of judges is selected by the Club Committee from within its
total membership, drawing on their selective skills and experience. If
you feel that your project falls into the categories listed in the Rules,
why not enter the awards?
Let us have the completed application as soon as possible.
